Lip Blush Tattoo Healing 101: What to Expect After Your Appointment
So, you’ve just gotten a lip blush tattoo, and you’re excited to see those fresh, rosy lips every day. But before you can fully enjoy your new look, there’s a healing process you need to know about. Don’t worry—healing is pretty straightforward with lip blush, but understanding what to expect can make all the difference in how your results turn out. Let’s break down the phases of healing and how to keep your lips looking their best.
For the first couple days, your lips may feel a little swollen and appear brighter and bolder than expected. This is normal! The color will soften as they heal, fading into a more natural shade over the next few weeks. You might experience mild dryness or even light peeling during the first week, typically on days three and four, as your lips settle into their new hue. Avoid picking at any flakes, as it can interfere with the pigment and lead to uneven spots. Instead, keep them moisturized with the recommended balm given to you at your appointment and let them heal at their own pace.
Aftercare is key to the healing process. Your artist will give you specific instructions, but generally, you’ll want to keep your lips clean, moisturized, and avoid heavy sun exposure or activities that could make you sweat excessively. Skipping makeup on and around your lips is also a good idea for the first week. You’ll basically just be treating your lips like an open wound during that time. Once healed, be sure to always wear SPF on your lips when outdoors to keep the pigment from fading prematurely- and keep them moisturized! With the right care, you’ll soon be rocking your naturally tinted, low-maintenance lips and they’ll look amazing for months to come!
